The death of a loved one typically confronts human beings with particularly difficult challenges at a time of often unparalleled distress. Even when uncomplicated, bereavement can precipitate significant psychological, behavioral, social, and physical difficulties. EMDR therapy can be helpful in treating the trauma of the loss, help mourners cope with the separation distress, and transform the relationship from loving in presence (when the loved one was alive) to loving in absence (now that the loved one is deceased).
